As you might know, Shizuoka is a land of fireworks. Locals love fireworks and we have a series of fireworks festivals here and there throughout the summer. One of them will take place annually at Nippondaira Hotel.
The “Nihondaira Festival” is set to dazzle audiences again this summer with about 10,000 shots of colorful fireworks on July 24, 2019.
What’s unique about this fireworks festival is you can enjoy fireworks going up right above you up front and the shapes, colors and impressive power of these fireworks attract huge crowds every year!
Considering the earlier sunset, the Nippondaira Hotel has a start time of 4:00 p.m. followed with fireworks at 7:30 p.m. making a green lawn garden open to public with some food and drink stalls for the event on the day.
You’ll truly have one of the best spots to enjoy the fireworks with the perfect background of nearby Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay overlooking Shizuoka night city lights.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
You are unable to come by car due to traffic regulations. Visitors are requested to use pay shuttle bus or taxi services.
The 36th Nihondaira Fireworks Festival
Date: Wednesday, July 24, 2019
（The event will not be cancelled for rain, but will be cancelled if the weather is stormy.）
Time: Open at 4:00 p.m.
Fireworks start from 7:30 p.m.

Admission: Free

Note: Nippondaira Hotel will be closed on the event day and no one can enter the hotel except the event staff.

- Please refrain from occupying a space with your personal belongings prior to the event.
- No smoking is allowed in the lawn.
- Food and drink from outside is prohibited.
- No pets are allowed to enter the garden except for assistant dogs.
- No drone shooting is allowed.
Access:
Traffic controls will be in effect from 4 p.m. for the event on all the roads towards the Nihondaira hilltop in the surrounding area both from Shimizu and Shizuoka freeway parkways. Please either use paid event shuttle bus service or taxies.
Paid shuttle service are available from JR Higashi Shizuoka South Exit as well as JR Shimizu Station and Shizutetsu Shin-Shimizu Station from 3:30 p.m. and 10p.m. after the event to each stations from the Nippondaira Hotel.
(Regular Nippondaira Hotel shuttle service is not in service on the day. No shuttle service is available from the Shizuoka Station. From Shizuoka Station, please either take a taxi (approximately 35-40 minutes) or take JR train to JR Higashi Shizuoka Station. (next to Shizuoka Station, 3 minutes and then use paid shuttle services or take a taxi)
