Here we introduce testimonials of some of the guests who have enjoyed a stay at Nippondaira Hotel. A New Zealander, Sarah Achilles is working for a leading consulting firm in Tokyo and greatly enjoyed a retreat in Shizuoka staying at our hotel.
“Wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life in Tokyo, I decided to book a night at the Nippondaira Hotel at the recommendation of a friend. Just one hour on the bullet train from Tokyo Station to Shizuoka Station followed by a 35-minute journey on the shuttle bus, I was amazed at how I could be in a completely different world in just over an hour and a half.
From the moment I walked through the door to the moment I checked out, I was treated to breathtaking views, relaxing modern ambience with a Japanese touch and five-star service by the hotel’s staff, many of whom spoke great English. The food and wine at the hotel’s restaurants were also one of the highlights.
Even though I was unable to see Mt. Fuji this time due to the weather, I was still able to enjoy the hotel’s majestic garden and views of the cityscape and bay below from almost every spot in the hotel, including the room’s private balcony, onsite spa and Upper Lounge where I also got to sample a selection of the bar’s Nippondaira signature cocktails. Truly delicious!
I also ventured out of the hotel and visited the nearby Nippondaira Dream Terrace, which offers 360°views of Mt Fuji and Suruga Bay, and took the ropeway to the Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine, which has been designated as a National Treasure. Both these places offered the opportunity to enjoy some of Japan’s most beautiful scenery without the crowds you often encounter at many tourist spots in and around Japan’s big cities.
Although this trip was just one night, I will definitely be back alone or with friends next time. It is the perfect spot to escape, unwind and recharge, or even to hunker down and get work done while enjoying quiet and peaceful surroundings.”
